What are the characteristics of gear reducers?

Gear reducers have the characteristics of providing low speed and high torque output. In some products that require high torque output, when the torque directly output by the micro motor is not enough, a gear reducer is needed to change the output torque.


The reduction ratio of gear reduction DC motors is fixed after leaving the factory, but in practical applications, they still need to operate at different speeds. For micro DC motors, only the voltage needs to be adjusted. The gear reduction structure is composed of gears, shafts, and a box body. In order to ensure the performance of the micro reduction motor, the box body should have sufficient stiffness and heat dissipation.


Gear reducers achieve low speed and high torque through the principle of small gears driving large gears, and the number of teeth between small gears and large gears is the transmission ratio. In addition to reducing speed and increasing torque, micro gear reduction motors also have the following characteristics:


1. Change the direction of the output shaft. The normal direction of the output shaft of a micromotor cannot be changed. After being combined with a gear reducer, the output shaft can be designed according to requirements, such as up, down, left, right, front, and rear;


2. Gear reducers have high overload capacity, with some large reducers reaching several hundred kilowatts;


3. The efficiency of the micro gear reduction motor is high, up to about 95%;


4. Low noise, vibration free, and long service life.


In addition to the above, gear reducers can be matched with various types of micro motors and combined with electromechanical integration, such as micro DC motors, brush motors, brushless motors, hollow cup motors, and so on.
